A Thousand Cranes
Theatre Compass' takes the dramatization of the well-known 20th century children's story 'Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes' by Eleanor Coerr and re-imagines it.
The real-life Sadako Sasaki survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima but succumbed to leukemia at the tender age of 13. Sadako attempted to fold a thousand paper cranes before her death so that, in turn, she could receive the wish of life. She only managed till 644.
But what if the story doesn't end at crane #644?
'A Thousand Cranes' is a fantastical re-telling of Sadako's story, laced with humour and lots of heart, borrowing from pop culture, physical theatre, and improvisations.
